We currently have openings for a Senior Engineer. Team members in this position will assist the Engineering team with the design, development, and support of networking, data center, UC and/or systems in the data center and for our clients. Senior Engineers are responsible for the installation, configuration, testing and analysis of all data center facilities, including routers, switches, firewalls, security devices, VoIP hardware, email, file and print servers, virtualization hardware and software, storage devices; and control the performance and status of the network/VoIP resources. They will utilize software and hardware tools to identify and diagnose problems and factors that affect network and system performance and provide Tier III support to Operations Engineering. They will also identify and resolve complex problems, errors, misconfigurations, etc. and be the primary technical contact responsible for advising the client, Alliant project management and Alliant account management of status, proposed problem resolutions, recommendations for changes within their area of knowledge. Finally, they provide technical support to internal company initiatives and participate in the recruiting and technical interview process.
This particular role is responsible for providing remote network support to Field and Operation Engineering Tier 1 engineers for level 2 troubleshooting on routing, switching, wireless, security and WAN optimization related issues. The Senior Engineer will assist Tier 3/Network Architects in the analysis of network performance reports to suggest changes for network optimization. This role designs and implements WAN optimization network using Steelheads for one Alliant's largest customers. The Senior Engineer is also responsible for supervising Alliant's NOC (Network Operations Center) Tier 1 Operations team of 14 Tier 1 engineers. As a result, this role provide coaching and mentoring of Tier 1 Engineers and is responsible for defining and documenting standard operating procedures and runbooks. This role also maintains tickets and manages incident escalation.
- MS in Engineering, Telecommunication Networks or related fields;
One year of experience as an engineer specializing in remote network support to field and network operations center engineers for troubleshooting on routing and switching issues. One year of experience may be obtained before or after earning Master’s degree.
Must have strong technical skills in routing and switching, as well as client services, help desk, network operations fundamentals, routing and switching theory.
