AMS – Remote Infrastructure Management
Alliant Managed Services (AMS)
Server Patch Management
The AMS Patch Management service provides Clients with a mechanism to assure that their production servers have the latest, appropriate, patches installed. The foundation of this service is built on two data sets: an inventory of all managed servers with an up-to-date view of installed patches, and a current patch library with accompanying pertinence analysis. This enables AMS to easily identify patch candidates and manage the update process. In addition, AMS is able to provide reports that describe the patch status of all managed servers, which are useful in pre- and post-update planning. Clients can select from three levels of service:
- Security Updates. A primary focus for AMS Patch Management is to install fixes to known security vulnerabilities in operating systems, many Microsoft applications, and selected 3rd party programs.
- Security with Application Dependency. In addition to providing up-to-date security patches, Clients may also identify specific patches that resolve security issues with their applications.
- All Patches. An all-inclusive service level can be selected by Clients who simply want all of the latest patches available to be applied to their servers.
Server & Application Patch Management functions
- Compares an inventory of installed patch versions against a current patch library using “pertinence analysis.“
- Identifies patch candidates and manages the update process using client-defined maintenance windows, coordinated with the and based on patch severity
- Provides patch status reports for pre- and post-update planning.
Routine AMS Patch Management executes during pre-determined maintenance windows as scheduled and coordinated with the Client, with patch updates generally scheduled monthly. Urgent security patch updates will be supported on an as needed basis.
AMS Patch Management is charged on a per-software / per-server fee basis.
